Weight Pull Rules
The AADR,LLC and associated clubs have tried to make these rules as clear and simple as possible to ensure fairness
and fun. If a handler has questions or needs any clarifications please consult the days judge, club President or
the AADR,LLC representative. They can provide help or answers to your questions to the best of their ability.

OFFICIALS AND THEIR DUTIES
Judge/Timekeeper:
Directs weight pull, settles disputes, times each contestants pull, informs the scorekeeper and directs the cart
attendants. THE JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL!
Scorekeeper:
Keeps record of weights pulled and the time of the pull for each dog. Records fouls and sit outs.
Holding Area Monitor:
Controls holding area. Makes sure that dogs are on deck, harnessed and ready to pull. Informs handlers of the
weight of the cart.
Cart Handlers:
Load and unload weight. Reposition cart for the next pull.
Weigh In Monitor:
Weighs in each dog for the days events and records the weight for each dog.
POINTS FOR ALL CLASSES
1st Place = 10 Points
2nd Place = 5 Points
3rd Place = 3 Points
Trophy awards are 15 Points each for Pound for Pound and Ultimate Pull.
When a dog accumulates 100 points that dog will have earned the title of Pull Master. 200 points = Pull Master I,
etc.
BASIC SHOW RULES
1) All dogs must be AADR registered. Dog may be registered the day of the show.
2) All dogs must be 9 months of age to compete.
3) No bitches in heat will be allowed to compete. Deceit equals disqualification. NO REFUND!
4) No human aggressive dogs and No dog aggressive humans. Violation will result in disqualification. NO REFUND!
5) No choke chains are allowed at any time at any AADR weight pull.
6) Each dog must be weighed to determine the weight class that he may enter.
7) No double classing.
8) The pulling area will be roped off with a minimum of 10 feet on each side.
9) Track and weight is to be certified by the judge for the day's event.
10) Enhanced equipment is not allowed, i.e. springs, shocks, etc.
11) No artificial aids such as stick-em may be used on the dog's feet.
12) Traces will be between 4-6 feet. The handler will allow no more then 2 feet of slack in the traces at the start of
the pull.
13) Dogs will pull in order from the lightest to the heaviest. It will be the hosting club's decision to pull the weight
classes together or one at a time.
14) In the event that a dog is needed in the Conformation ring or a handler has two dogs pulling back to back, the
order may be shuffled to avoid delays as much as possible.
15) The judge will determine the starting weight and all weight increases. Participants are never allowed to call any
weight increases.
16) No more then 2 handlers and 1 form of bait will be allowed in the pull area. No food or drink or live bait may be
used. Bait will be approved by the judge before the pull begins.
17) Each dog will be allowed to sit out 4 weight increases. These sit outs can be used consecutively or spaced out.
Sit outs will start after the dog has completed his first pull.
18) Dogs must complete one full pull to be in contention for awards. The handler will decide when to begin pulling
their dog. No minimum amount of weight is required.
19) A qualifying pull (Full Pull) is a distance of 15 feet in 60 seconds or less with no fouls or alibis committed.
20) Each dog will be allowed three (3) fouls before they are fouled out for the day. The following are considered
fouls:
a. Pushing, pulling or dropping the dog at the start of the pull.
b. Intentional touching of the dog or cart after the time has started. Incidental contact that in no way aids the
dog in the pull will not be considered a foul.
c. Running our of time without completing the pull.
d. Contact between the dog and bait.
THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL!!!!!!!
21) The judge will stop the pull and order a restart if he feels the dog may be in danger of injury as a result of
equipment malfunction, entanglement or outside interference. This will be considered an alibi. Two alibis will equal
a foul.
22) No dog will be asked to get on the track without a 5-minute rest period.
REGULAR CLASS
1) All Basic Show Rules apply in addition to the following.
2) Weight Classes are as follows:
30 pounds and Under males and females separate
30 pound-40-pound males and females separate
40 pound-50 pound males and females separate
50 pound-60 pound males and females separate
60 pound-70 pound males and females separate
3) Ribbon awards for these classes will be determined by weight pulled per pound of body weight. Each class,
males and females, will receive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place awards. (If two dogs weigh the same and go out on the
same pull the winner will be decided by the fastest time of the previous pull)
4)There will be 4 trophies awarded. Over all Pound for Pound male and female and Ultimate Pull male and female.
PULL MASTER CLASS
1) All basic rules will apply in addition to the following.
2) There MUST be at least 3 dogs entered to hold the Pull Master Class.
3) Weight classes are as follows:
44 Pounds and Under males and females together
44 Pounds-70 Pounds males and females together
4) 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be determined by weight pulled per pound of body weight. Males and Females will
compete against each other.
5) There will be 2 trophy awards given. 1 Pound Per Pound Trophy and 1 Ultimate Pull Trophy.
HEAVY WEIGHT CLASS
1) All basic show rules will apply in addition to the following.
2) Weight classes are as follows:
70 pounds to 90 pounds males and female separate
90 pounds and over males and females separate
3) Each class will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female and will be determined by Most Weight
Pulled. (If two dogs go out on he same weight then winner will be determined by the fastest time of the previous
pull).
4) There will be 2 trophy awards given. 1 Ultimate Pull Male and 1 Ultimate Pull female.
HEAVY WEIGHT PULL MASTER CLASS
1) All basic show rules will apply in addition to the following.
2) Weight classes are as follows:
70 pounds-90 pounds Male and Females compete together
90 pounds and Over Males and Females compete together
3) 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be determined on most weight pulled. (If 2 dogs go out on the same pull the
winner will be determined by the fastest time of the previous pull).
4) There will be only 1 trophy awarded. The Ultimate Pull trophy will be awarded to the dog that pulled the most
weight of the day
